Freya and all the family send their best wishes to you this Easter.  As you can see from the photos Freya is in lovely condition.  Her coat is looking very nice now, not much length to it, but in beautiful condition. 

Octavia came into heat for the first time on Wednesday and Freya joined her on Friday.  So things are a bit excitable in the house at the moment with everyone sniffing everyone else's bottoms.  The two girls are rather affectionate with everyone except each other as they are vying for Odinn's love and attention. 

At this point other than the ubiquitous bottom smelling, he is not much interested, but I am certain that this will change fairly soon.

 

Freya's heat appears to be much better than last time and hopefully it will not be a split heat. The six month from her last heat would have been towards the end of this month, so time between heat is reasonable.  At this time she is still too young to be bred from and we will not breed her till her next heat which should be in October of this year. 

She recently had her yearly physical and passed with flying colours.  The vet was most impressed with her excellent musculature.  She is in wonderful condition. 

She continues to enjoy life in the Sounds and is a very comfortable dog.  Not a big barker and very friendly to visitors. 

She sends everyone a big hug and a kiss and also a big cuddle to Dolly.

Freya will be tall and lanky just like Odinn, whilst Octavia will be broader and perhaps a wee bit smaller, but I don't think that there will be much in the height between them.  Freya will be the lighter of the two. 

Her colour has really changed in the last week or so, there is far more black flecking her coat.  She is looking particularly attractive at the moment. 

It will soon be six months, since she arrived from Norway and we have enjoyed all of this time.  Now that Octavia is a bit older, they are playing very nicely together.  They still love to chase each other outside, but with summer coming, the heat will soon slow them down.  The house is very cool inside and they have already started to come in for naps at the height of the heat, and it is only spring here now, but the temperatures have soared to 20 degrees for the last few days.  The ground can now start to dry out, so less mud is being tracked inside the house.

She loves to play with toys and plays very well with a tennis ball.  As she also chews them, they do not last very long. 

The introduction with Octavia has gone well and they regularly converse in Norwegian together.  Octavia is particularly vocal but Freya can get in there with the best of them.  

They do love to play together, but we are very careful as Freya is so much taller and faster than the little one.  Also as we have quite a few small hills and hollows we need to care for Octavia's hip development.  She is a bit more wobbly on the bottom than Freya, but she is also shorter to the ground.  Freya is tall and willowy, just like Odinn. I

All the dogs really look great together and it is now very difficult to leave the shops as a crowd usually gathers around to look at all those beautiful dogs.  Luckily different people seem to prefer one dog over the others, but always someone likes each one of them.

She and Octavia certainly love to tumble and play together, they can't leave the other alone.  If Octavia is asleep, Freya goes and licks her ears or nudges her with her paws. Octavia does exactly the same or worst stands somewhere in the room and starts to bark, so that everyone then starts to mill around and she suddenly has someone to play with. Any distraction will do the trick. 

Octavia is now more solid on her feet, so we can let them play a bit more outside together.  We are still being very careful as Octavia is still growing as is Freya. 

As you will see from the pictures, Freya is quite the beauty and moves extremely well.  She is very elegant

Freya is doing very well, she is now 36kg and almost as tall as Odinn.  She continues to develop very well and is most trainable. She is sleeping at my feet while I write this email.

 

She has now taken over Odinn's bed and they can often be found sleeping together in it, one at each end.

 

 

We are getting a very Canadian winter here, this is the worst winter we have had since coming to New Zealand with loads of frost and heavy snow on both island.  We have only had the frosts, no snow to date.  Freya has been able to demonstrate her superior skating skills to her brother and sisters.  She can stop on a dime on ice, where the others just have a long skid and end up in the bush.  But they just love it.

 

All this cold weather is keeping them very hungry.
